What does a doula actually do?

I'm your continuous support person through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. That means preparing you and your partner before the big day, being beside you through your whole labour, and helping you find your feet afterwards. I don't perform clinical tasks, that's your midwife or doctor's role. My job is making sure you feel informed, heard and never alone, whatever your birth brings.

Will you replace my partner?

The opposite. Partners often worry about this, and it's one of my favourite worries to put to rest: I'm there to support both of you, and most partners tell me they were able to be more present, not less, because someone steady was in the room. How much does a doula cost in Perth?

My support ranges from $240 for 2 Hours Postpartum support through to $2,900 for the Sacred Birth Journey, my complete pregnancy-to-postpartum package. Can I book you as my birth photographer as well as my doula?

Yes absolutely. I can work with you in both a doula and photographer capacity. We discuss what is most important to you in key moments as to what you need from me.

Question 5

Do you only support natural births?

Accepted Answer

No, and this matters deeply to me. I support any birth: hospital, home, birth centre, induction, epidural, caesarean, VBAC. My role isn't to steer you toward a particular kind of birth. It's to help you feel strong and supported through yours.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes absolutely, I am happy to discuss payment plans to fit with your affordability.

Which hospitals do you attend?

Accepted Answer

I support births at hospitals across Perth, including Joondalup, SJOG Midland, Osborne Park, King Edward Memorial Hospital, Family Birth Centre, SJOG Subiaco, Fiona Stanley as well as home births alongside your midwifery team.

When should I book?

Earlier than you'd think. I take on a limited number of births at a time so every woman gets my full presence, and due dates fill ahead. That said, if you're late in pregnancy and reading this, still reach out. If I can support you, I will, and if I can't, I'll help you find someone wonderful.

What if my baby arrives early or fast?

From 38 weeks I'm on call for you, (phone beside the bed on loud, bags packed). Babies write their own schedules, and being ready for that is part of the job.Should there be any changes through pregnancy which may indicate a premature labour, we will discuss the best options to ensure continued availability and support.
